About Calla Lilies

Calla lilies are a large genus of flowering plants in the family Callaecaceae. The name “calla lily” comes from Castilian Spanish.

In the English language the name is pronounced “call-uh-lee”. Calla lilies are perennial plants, related to other genera of the family, such as the sunflower and daisy.

The flowers are zygomorphic, with four symmetrical petals that can be white, red, yellow, or orange. In the wild, calla lilies are more commonly orange or yellow, but can also be white as well.
