Christmas Sweater Drawing: All Steps

The goal is to arrive at a finished drawing of a Christmas sweater by creating one part at a time. This project will take 9 steps to complete as we continue to make each part moving closer to the completed artwork. The completed artwork will be perfected with color resulting in a work of art you will want to share with friends!

Time Needed: 30 minutes

  1. First Form The Neckband

    First, outline the curved shape of the neckband. Next, add lines along the neckband to give it detail. Then, outline the back of the neckband by drawing a curved line.

  2. Outline The Body And Hem

    Outline the body of the sweater by drawing a rounded rectangular shape. Next, outline the hem attached to the bottom. Then, add the lines along the hem to highlight the stitching.

  3. Draw The Sleeves And Cuffs

    Draw the elongated shapes on the sides of the sweater’s body to form the sleeves. Now, outline the cuffs attached to the end of the sleeves. Then, draw lines along the cuffs to add the stitching detail.

  4. Add Pine Trees

    Form the shape of pine trees by drawing zigzag shapes on the body and sleeves of the sweater.

  5. Form The Snowflake Pattern

    Now, let’s add a snowflake pattern to the sweater! First, draw cross-shaped lines.

  6. Draw Diagonal Branches

    Next, draw X-shaped lines to form the diagonal branches of the snowflakes.

  7. Add Dots To The Snowflakes

    Add dots at the tip of each branch to complete the snowflake design.

  8. Outline The Stitching

    Draw different kinds of lines and shapes on the sweater similar to the illustration to give detail to our Christmas sweater.

  9. Complete The Christmas Sweater Drawing

    Let’s finish our Christmas sweater just in time for the holidays! First, use a white crayon to shade the pine tree pattern and color the background with a pink crayon. Also use a white crayon to fill in the circles and the straight, wavy, and zigzag patterns on the sweater. Next, color the neckband, cuffs and hem with a deep red crayon. Then, fill in the rest of the sweater with different shades of red.
