Draw Elf On The Shelf: All Steps

By the end of this lesson we will complete a drawing of an elf on the shelf by drawing one part at a time. This project will take 9 steps in total as we continue to draw each area moving closer to the completed work of art. The final work of art will be finished off with color resulting in a work of art you will be proud to show off!

Time Needed: 30 minutes

  1. Form The Head

    Draw Elf On The Shelf: Step 1

    First, draw a U-shaped line. Then, attach two small C-shaped to form the ears.

  2. Draw The Face

    Now, draw two shaded circles for the eyes. Next, add a dot for the nose and a line curving upwards for the mouth.

  3. Add The Elf Hat

    Start by drawing the hat’s base on the elf’s head. Then, form the triangular shape of the elf’s long pointy hat.

  4. Outline The Hair

    Outline the elf’s hair below the hat similar to the illustration.

  5. Form The Torso

    Draw a zigzag shape to form the elf’s collar. Then, outline the torso using two vertical lines.

  6. Attach The Arms

    Now, draw the shape of the elf’s arms attached to the torso. Don’t forget to draw a diagonal line near the end of each arm to form the hands.

  7. Add The Legs

    Next, add the elf’s curving legs attached to the bottom of its body.

    Let’s draw a shelf for the elf to sit on by creating a rectangular box.

  9. Complete The Elf On The Shelf Drawing

    Let’s add some color to our drawing of the elf on the shelf! First, use a white crayon to color the collar and the base of its hat. Next, color the top part of the hat and the rest of the elf’s clothes with a red crayon. Now, use a peach crayon to color the head and hands. Then, use a brown crayon to shade the shelf.
