Easy Mermaid Drawing: All Steps

In today’s tutorial, we are going to learn how to draw an easy mermaid drawing on paper. The shape and proportion of each of the drawn parts will be considered in each step of the lesson. Observe that the blue lines have been drawn to show the new elements being drawn in each in each of the steps.

Time Needed: 30 minutes

  1. First Draw The Head

    Easy Mermaid Drawing: Step 1

    First, draw the head by making a U-shaped line. Next, make a small curved line on both sides of the head to draw the ears. Now, draw two circles for the eyes and short downward curved lines for the eyebrows. Then, draw a small downward curve at the center of the head to draw the nose. Finally, draw a longer line curving upwards to form the mouth.

  2. Attach The Arms

    Let’s attach the mermaid’s arms! To draw an arm, make two diagonal lines. Then, form a rounded shape at the end to draw the hand. Don’t forget to make a small bump to draw the thumb.

  3. Add The Torso

    Let’s start by drawing the mermaid’s seashell bikini top as shown. Then, create two curved lines below it to form the rest of the torso.

  4. Form The Waist

    Form the waist by drawing the shape as shown.

  5. Outline The Tail

    Outline the tail by making a curved line pointing to the right.

  6. Attach The Tail Fin

    Attach the fork shaped tail fin by drawing a line similar to the illustration.

  7. Add Details

    Let’s add details to the mermaid’s tail! First, draw vertical lines on the waist part. Next, form bumpy lines on the tail. Then, draw wavy lines on the tail fin as shown.

  8. Draw The Hair

    Draw the mermaid’s hair by creating a wavy line.

  9. Complete The Mermaid Drawing

    Let’s finish the mermaid drawing by first coloring the mermaid’s skin with a light orange crayon. Next, color the hair with a yellow crayon. Now, shade the seashell bikini top with a pink crayon. Then, fill in the tail with a teal color. Shade the tail fin and the waist part with a darker shade of teal.
