Easy Ornament Drawing: All Steps

In this basic drawing tutorial, we will figure out how to draw an easy ornament drawing on paper. To ensure the artwork is successful, we will observe the various sizes and shapes of each part of the ornament. The drawn lines in each illustration is color-coded blue so you can observe the most recent parts that you should be drawing.

Time Needed: 30 minutes

  1. Outline The Shape Of The Ornament

    Start by making a circular outline of the Christmas bulb.

  2. Attach The Cap

    Attach the cap by drawing a small rectangular shape on top.

  3. Form The Loop

    Form the loop on the ornament’s cap by drawing an arc.

  4. Draw The Center Of A Ribbon

    Let’s tie a ribbon above the cap! First, draw a small rounded shape to form the center of the ribbon.

  5. Add The Tied Part Of The Ribbon

    Draw the tied part of the ribbon attached to both sides of the center similar to the illustration.

  6. Attach The Ends Of The Ribbon

    Form the ends of the ribbon by drawing two thin diagonal shapes attached to the center of the ribbon.

  7. Draw The Design On The Ornament

    Draw wavy diagonal lines to add a simple spiral pattern on the ornament.

  8. Outline The String

    Outline the string attached to the ornament’s loop by drawing two vertical lines.

    Let’s complete our easy drawing of an ornament by adding some color! First, use a red crayon to color the ribbon. Next, use an orange crayon to fill in the cap and loop of the ornament. Now, shade the spiral pattern using green and red crayons. Finally, use a white crayon to color the string.
