How To Draw A Chicken: All Steps

In this lesson, we will start off with a new piece of paper and discover how to draw a chicken in a series of 6 steps. It’s best if we pay attention to the proportions of each of the drawn parts of the chicken.

Time Needed: 20 minutes

  1. Outline The Head

    First, outline the shape of the chicken’s head as shown. Form its hackle feathers by drawing a zigzag line at the bottom.

  2. Add The Face

    Draw a shaded circle to create its eye. Next, form the pointed shape of its beak. Now, draw the outline of its wattle attached to the beak as shown. Then, add a curvy shape on top of its head to form its comb.

  3. Form The Body

    Form the outline of the chicken’s body connected to the bottom of its head.

  4. Attach The Wing And Tail

    Draw the bumpy shape of the chicken’s wing and tail as shown in the illustration.

  5. Draw The Legs

    Form the two legs of the chicken attached to the bottom of its body. Make sure to emphasize the chicken’s sharp pointed claws.

  6. Complete The Chicken Drawing

    Let’s add some color to our chicken drawing. First, use a red crayon to color the comb and wattle. Next, use a yellow crayon to shade the beak and legs. Now, use a light brown crayon to color the feathers on its head, wings and tail. Then, fill in the chicken’s body with a dark brown crayon.
