In this beginner’s lesson, we will learn how to draw a donkey with your drawing materials. Be sure to observe the various sizes and shapes within the artwork of the donkey. The pencil lines in each step is made of blue so you can observe the most recent lines that you should be illustrating.

Draw The Eye
Draw the donkey’s eye by creating a shaded oval.

Form The Head
Form the elongated shape of the donkey’s head similar to the illustration.

Create The Snout
Draw a curved line and a shaded oval to form the shape of the donkey’s snout.

Add The Ears
Add the thin pointed shape of the donkey’s ears on top of its head.

Outline The Body
Outline the oval shape of the donkey’s body attached to its head

Form The Mane
Form the mane of hair along the donkey’s back by drawing a long pointy line.

Attach The Tail
Draw the thin wavy shape of the donkey’s tail attached to its body as shown.

Add The Legs
Form the thin elongated shape of the donkey’s legs attached to the bottom of its body. Don’t forget to draw the hooves by adding a curved line on the bottom of each leg.

Complete The Donkey Drawing
Let’s color our drawing of a donkey! First, use a pink crayon to shade the inner ears. Next, use a black crayon to shade the mane, hooves, and the tip of its tail. Now, use a white crayon to color the underbelly and snout. Finally, shade the rest of the donkey using a brown crayon.
