How to Draw a Fireplace

For today’s less you’ll be drawing a wintry fireplace scene all decorated for the Holidays.
All drawing steps are included here which make it fun and simple to follow! Plan for this drawing to take about 30 minutes, but the creative process can actually take more time if a background is added as well.

Materials
- Pencil
- Drawing Paper

In today’s lesson, we are going to learn how to draw a fireplace on paper. The location and proportion of each part will be highlighted in each step of the lesson. Note that the blue pencil lines are used to indicate the new elements being drawn in each in each of the steps.
Time Needed: 30 minutes

Form The Surround
Form the surround of the fireplace by drawing two long vertical lines.

Draw The Mantel And Hearth
Next, draw the mantel by creating a long rectangle on top of the surround. Then, form the hearth by drawing a long rectangle below the surround.

Add The Overmantel
Add the overmantel by drawing two vertical lines.

Draw The Firebox
Draw two curved lines to form the firebox.

Attach A Garland
Let’s decorate the fireplace for Christmas by adding a long bumpy shaped garland.

Add Christmas Stockings
Now, let’s hang some Christmas stockings on the mantel similar to the illustration.

Draw The Fire
Draw the shape of the fire inside the firebox as shown.

Create Bricks
Draw the bricks of the fireplace by first drawing evenly spaced horizontal lines. Then, draw short vertical lines to form the sides of each brick.

Complete The Fireplace Drawing
Let’s add some color to our fireplace drawing! First, color the garland with a green crayon. Next, fill the Christmas stockings with red and white crayons. Now, shade the opening of the firebox with a light red crayon and the inside of the firebox with a dark blue crayon. Then, color the fire using orange and yellow crayons. After that, shade the mantel and hearth with a dark brown crayon. Finally, color the rest of the fireplace with a brown crayon.
