How to Draw Hot Chocolate

In today’s lesson, we are going to discover how to draw a cup of hot chocolate on paper. The location and proportion of each part will be highlighted in each step of the how-to article here. Take notice that the blue outlines are used to indicate the newest components being drawn in each step.

Time Needed: 30 minutes

1. Draw The Lip Of The Mug

   

   Draw the lip of the mug by making an oval outline.

2. Outline The Body Of The Mug

   

   Next, form the U-shaped outline of the mug’s body.

3. Add The Hot Chocolate

   

   Add hot chocolate inside the mug by drawing a line curving downwards.

4. Attach The Handle

   

   Draw the mug’s handle by drawing two curved lines attached to the body.

5. Draw A Candy Cane

   

   Now, let’s add a candy cane to our hot chocolate by making a J-shaped outline.

6. Create The Candy Cane’s Pattern

   

   Create the candy cane’s swirl pattern by drawing curved lines along the candy cane.

7. Add Marshmallows

   

   Add marshmallows to our hot chocolate by drawing small rectangles with rounded corners. Form the bottom face of a marshmallow by adding a curved line as shown.

8. Draw Ripples

   

   Add some ripples around the marshmallows by drawing short curved lines.

9. Complete The Hot Chocolate Drawing

   

   Let’s complete our hearty mug of hot chocolate by adding some color! First, color the body of the mug with shades of green. Next, fill the handle with a red crayon. Now, use red and white crayons to color the candy cane. Then, fill the hot chocolate with a brown crayon. Finally, color the marshmallows with a white crayon. You can also add some shading to the marshmallows using a light brown crayon.
