How To Draw A Kangaroo: All Steps

In this step by step lesson, we are going to learn how to draw a kangaroo with your drawing materials. We will consider the various sizes and shapes within the artwork of the kangaroo. The lines in each step is outlined in blue so you can easily see the most recent lines that you will be creating.

Time Needed: 20 minutes

  1. Form The Head

    First, outline the shape of the kangaroo’s head. Next, draw two shaded ovals for the eyes. Next, create a rounded triangular shape for the nose. Now, form the mouth by drawing two lines curving upward. Draw a rounded shape around the mouth. Then, create two vertical lines connected to the sides of the eyes.

  2. Attach The Ears

    Draw the thin elongated shape of the kangaroo’s ears. Add the ear flaps by making a wavy diagonal line on the middle of both ears.

  3. Outline The Body

    Outline the shape of the kangaroo’s body as shown.

  4. Add The Limbs

    First, form the shape of the kangaroo’s arms with thin paws. Next, draw the kangaroo’s legs with longer paws as shown.

  5. Add The Tail

    Add the pointed shape of the kangaroo’s tail attached to its body.

  6. Complete The Kangaroo Drawing

    Let’s complete the kangaroo drawing by coloring the inner part of the ears first with a pink crayon. Now, shade the nose with a dark brown crayon. Next, fill in the mouth, belly and underside of the tail with a cream colored crayon. Then, use a brown crayon to color the rest of the kangaroo’s body.
