How to Draw a Mushroom Printable PDF (see bottom of lesson)

In this tutorial, we are going to learn how to draw a mushroom with basic drawing tools. We will consider the various sizes and shapes within the artwork of the mushroom. The pencil lines in each step is drawn blue so you can identify the most recent components that you will be illustrating.

Time Needed: 20 minutes

Draw The Mushroom Cap

Using your pencil draw the cap of the large mushroom. It is similar to an umbrella shape and is rounded.
Add A Smaller Cap

Then, just below on the right side, draw a smaller cap; this time as a triangular shape with rounded corners. This mushroom will be drawn smaller than the first one.
Draw The Stalks

After that add stalks under each mushroom cap so that they can connect to the ground. Also complete the shape of the bigger cap that exists behind the stem.
Add Grass

Now we are going to draw the grass underneath our mushrooms.
Draw Spots

If you wish you can add a pattern of dots to each mushroom for a more fun look!
Color Your Drawing

Using your crayons or other coloring materials, begin coloring your mushroom drawing.

Mushroom Drawing (Easy)

Step 1: Outline the Mushroom Cap

Outline the cap of the mushroom by drawing two rounded triangles.

Step 2: Draw the Mushroom Gills

Draw the outer gills of the mushroom by forming two lines attached below the cap.

Step 3: Add the Texture of the Gills

Let’s add some texture by adding some lines to the gills of the mushroom using horizontal lines as shown.

Step 4: Attach the Mushroom Ring

Attach the ring of the mushroom similar to the illustration.

Step 5: Draw the Mushroom Stalk

Let’s draw two narrow shapes attached to the ring of the mushroom.

Step 6: Add Texture to the Stalk

Add several vertical lines along the narrow shape of the stalk to add texture to the mushroom.

Step 7: Outline the Grass

Outline the grass at the base of the mushroom by drawing pointy shapes.

Step 8: Form the Mushroom Scales

Form several circles on the mushroom’s caps to create the scales.

Step 9: Complete the Mushroom Drawing

Let’s complete the mushroom drawing by adding some color. Use a red crayon to shade the cap of the mushroom. Next, use a pink crayon to color the gills. Then, use an orange crayon to fill in the ring of the mushroom. Use a brown crayon to shade for the stalk. Finally, let’s color the grass by using a green crayon.
