How To Draw A Shipwreck: All Steps

In today’s post, we will learn how to draw a shipwreck on paper. The shape and proportion of each part will be observed in each step of the tutorial. Note that the blue pencil lines are used to indicate the new shapes being created in each in each of the steps.

Time Needed: 30 minutes

  1. Draw The Sand

    How To Draw A Shipwreck: Step 1

    Draw the sand by creating a long wavy horizontal line.

  2. Form The Hull

    How To Draw A Shipwreck: Step 2

    Form the outline of the sunken ship’s hull by making a curved shape. Don’t forget to extend the left side of the hull and make it protrude outwards as shown to form the bow of the ship. Then, draw curved lines across the hull.

  3. Add The Portholes

    Let’s add three portholes to the ship. To draw a porthole, draw a circle within a circle. Next, create cracks on the portholes by drawing lines as shown.

  4. Draw The Boom And Mast

    Now, let’s draw a long thin diagonal rectangle to form the mast of the ship. Then, draw the boom by making a smaller diagonal rectangle attached to the mast.

  5. Add The Sail

    Add the sail by first drawing a jagged rectangular shape. Next, create the holes in the sail by drawing smaller jagged shapes.

  6. Outline The Seaweed

    Outline the seaweed on the shipwreck by drawing lines on the boom and hull as shown.

  7. Form The Shape Of The Seaweed

    Form the shape of the seaweed by making small curvy lines on both sides of the outline from the previous step.

  8. Create Underwater Plants And Bubbles

    Let’s first create bumpy rounded shapes to draw rocks. Now, draw thin wavy vertical shapes attached to the rocks to form underwater plants. Then, draw circles to create the bubbles around the shipwreck.

  9. Complete The Shipwreck Drawing

    Let’s complete the shipwreck drawing by coloring the hull and portholes with a purple crayon. Next, color the boom and mast with a lighter purple crayon. Now, shade the sail with a blue crayon. Then, fill in the seaweed and underwater plants with a blue green crayon. After that, shade the rocks with a gray crayon. Let’s color the sand with an orange crayon and the water with a blue crayon. Don’t forget to fill in the bubbles with a light blue crayon.
