How to Draw a Winter Village

In this beginner’s lesson, we are going to learn how to draw a winter village with your drawing materials. We will consider the various sizes and shapes contained in the example drawing of the winter village. The pencil lines in each step is outlined in blue so you can identify the most recent elements that you will be working on.

Outline The Snowman
Draw a bumpy shape to outline the body of the snowman.

Decorate The Snowman
First, draw two circles on the head to create the eyes. Next, add a triangle to form its carrot nose. Then, draw three circles on the body to add buttons to our snowman. Finally, attach two thin shapes on each side of the snowman to create arms.

Draw The Snowy Ground
Outline the ground by drawing a curved line. Add bushes to the snowy ground by creating bumpy shapes.

Add Houses
First draw the walls of the house by adding vertical lines similar to the illustration. Then, connect the vertical lines with lines pointing upwards to create roofs.

Attach The Chimney, Doors And Windows
First, draw arcs on the houses to outline the doors. Next, add rectangles on the houses to create windows. Finally, add chimneys on top of the roofs as shown in the illustration. Don’t forget to add a curvy line on the chimneys to add snowy detail.

Outline The Christmas Tree
Form a pointy shape behind the houses to add a Christmas tree.

Decorate The Christmas Tree
First, draw a star on top of the tree. Next, add circles to decorate the tree with Christmas bulbs. Finally, draw diagonal shapes across the tree to wrap it with garland.

Add Falling Snow
Create several circles falling to the ground to add snow to the village.

Complete The Winter Village Drawing
Let’s complete the festivities of our winter village by giving it color! First, use a sky blue crayon to color the background. Next, use a green crayon to fill in the Christmas tree. Then use a light blue crayon to color the icy bushes. Now, let’s color our winter houses using blue, purple, and blue green crayons. Now, use a white crayon to shade the ground, roofs, falling snow, and body of the snowman. Don’t forget to use a black crayon to shade the eyes and buttons of the snowman. Use a brown crayon to fill in the arms and a yellow crayon to color the nose of the snowman. Finally, let’s color the tree’s decorations. First, use a yellow crayon to shade the star and some of the Christmas bulbs. Next, use an orange crayon to color the rest of the ornaments. Finally, fill in the garland on the tree using a red crayon.
