Materials
- Pencil
- Drawing Paper
- Crayons or Colored Pencils

The goal is to arrive at a finished drawing of an underwater scene by working on one area at a time. This project will take 9 steps in total as we continue to create each area moving closer to the completed work of art. The completed artwork will be perfected with color creating a drawing you will be proud of!

Draw Rocks
Draw rocks by forming rounded elongated shapes of different sizes as shown.

Add Corals
Add corals by creating thin rod-like shapes branching out into more rod-like shapes similar to the illustration.

Create Sea Sponges
Let’s first outline the long tubular shape of the sea sponges. Next, draw an oval on top to form the opening of the sea sponge.

Attach A Starfish
Attach a starfish on a rock by forming a star shape.

Draw Seaweed
Now, let’s draw some seaweed growing behind the rocks! First, make an outline of the seaweed’s central rib by drawing a long wavy line. Next, create wavy lines on both sides of the central rib to form the seaweed’s shape.

Outline A Clam Shell
Outline the bumpy rounded shape of a clam shell as shown.

Draw The Folds And Opening Of The Clam Shell
Let’s first draw the opening of the clam shell by making three bumpy lines curving upward. Next, form the folds on the top and bottom shell by drawing curved lines.

Add Bubbles
Now, add some bubbles by creating different sizes of circles. Also, create a wavy horizontal line to draw the sand.

Complete The Underwater Scene Drawing
Let’s complete the underwater scene drawing by first coloring the rocks with a purple crayon. Use a pink crayon to color the corals and a red crayon to shade the sea sponges. Next, fill in the seaweed with a green crayon. Now, color the starfish using an orange crayon. Then, shade the clam shell mainly with a light orange crayon and the opening with a dark orange crayon. Finally, fill in the seabed with an orange crayon and the body of water using different shades of blue. Don’t forget to color the bubbles with a light blue crayon!
