How to Draw Santa Claus

The goal is to complete a drawing of Santa Claus by drawing one section at a time. The drawing will take 9 steps in total as we continue to create each area which will get us closer to the finished work of art. The completed work of art will be embellished with color resulting in a drawing you can be proud of!

Time Needed: 30 minutes

1. Draw The Face

   

   Draw two circles to form the eyes. Next, form Santa’s mustache by creating two elongated shapes. Don’t forget to attach a small oval in between the mustache to draw the nose.

2. Form The Beard And Mouth

   

   Outline Santa’s fluffy beard by drawing a bumpy shape just below his face. Then, attach a line curving upwards below the mustache to create his jolly smile!

3. Add The Santa Hat

   

   Add Santa’s hat by drawing an elongated bumpy shape. Then, form the body of the hat by outlining a triangular shape. Add the fluffy tip of the hat by creating a bumpy circle attached to the end of the triangular shape.

4. Outline The Body

   

   Start by outlining the shape of Santa’s body. Next, add the circular buttons of his jacket. Then, attach his belt by drawing a horizontal strip with a rectangular buckle at the center.

5. Attach The Arms

   

   Start by outlining the shape of Santa’s arms. Then, add the cuffs to his jacket as shown in the illustration.

6. Draw The Hands

   

   Now, form the outline of his hands. Don’t forget to add lines to create his fingers.

7. Form The Legs

   

   Draw vertical lines attached to the bottom of Santa’s body to form his legs. Don’t forget to give him boots since it’s really cold in the North Pole!

8. Outline The Santa Sack

   

   Outline the sack full of presents by drawing a wavy shape attached to his hand.

9. Complete The Santa Claus Drawing

   

   Let’s give color to our Santa Claus drawing! First, let’s use a black crayon to fill in the eyes and belt of Santa. Next, use a peach color crayon to shade the face and hands. Use a yellow crayon to color the buckle and buttons of Santa’s clothes. Then, use a white crayon to shade the beard, cuffs and fluffy parts of Santa’s clothing. Use a green crayon to fill in the sack full of presents. Next, use a brown crayon to color the boots. Finally, shade the rest of Santa’s clothing with a red crayon!
