How To Draw The Sea: All Steps

We will arrive at a finished drawing of the sea by drawing one area at a time. The drawing will take 9 steps in total as we continue to draw each part moving closer to the completed drawing. The completed work of art will be finalized with color creating a drawing you will love!

Time Needed: 30 minutes

  1. Draw Rocks

    Draw rocks by creating rounded shapes of different sizes.

  2. Add Underwater Plants

    Let’s add underwater plants growing behind the rocks. First, draw the seaweed on the left by creating thin wavy shapes. Next, draw the coral by making a thin branch-like shape. Then, draw the kelp at the right by first creating two long wavy vertical lines and then adding small curved shapes.

  3. Draw Jellyfish

    Let’s add some jellyfish in our drawing! First, draw a semi-circle to form the body of the jellyfish. Next, attach thin wavy shapes to the body of the jellyfish to form the tentacles.

  4. Draw A Shell Of A Crab

    Now, let’s add a crab by first making an oval to form its shell.

  5. Attach The Limbs Of The Crab

    Next, attach the crawling legs of the crab by drawing small curves on each side of the shell. Then, let’s draw the crab’s claws by forming an oval shape with a wavy line in the middle. Attach the crab’s claws to the shell using curved lines.

  6. Add The Crab’s Face

    Add the crab’s face by making two dots for the eyes and a curved line for the mouth.

  7. Draw Bubbles

    Draw bubbles by making circles of different sizes.

  8. Create The Background

    Let’s create the background of our drawing of the sea! First, draw a horizontal line to form the seafloor. Next, draw four wavy horizontal lines to create the waves on the surface of the water. Then, form the clouds by drawing elongated bumpy shapes as shown.

  9. Complete The Sea Drawing

    Finish the sea drawing by first coloring the water with different shades of blue. Use a light blue crayon to shade the bubbles and sky. Next, use a pink crayon to color the jellyfish. After that, shade the crab with an orange crayon. Then, color the coral with a light orange crayon. Now, let’s color the underwater plants with green and the rocks with purple. Finally, shade the seafloor with a light brown crayon.
