Pirate Drawing Easy: All Steps

In this post, we will learn how to make an easy pirate drawing on paper. To look the best, we will pay attention to the various sizes and shapes of each part of the pirate. The new lines in each illustration is color-coded blue so you can observe the current lines that you will be working on.

Time Needed: 30 minutes

  1. First Draw The Head

    First, draw the pirate’s head by creating a U-shaped line. Attach the ears by drawing two curved lines on both sides of the head. Draw the eye by creating a circle and form the eyebrow by making a bumpy line. Next, create the eyepatch by drawing a rounded shape with two lines for the strap. Then, draw the nose by making a small downward curve.

  2. Next Add The Beard

    Next, add the pirate’s beard by drawing a bumpy shape as shown. Don’t forget to form the mouth using a bumpy line!

  3. Draw The Pirate Hat

    Let’s first outline the shape of the pirate hat. Next, draw the lining on the top following the shape of the hat. Now, add the jolly roger by outlining the shape of the skull with two thin crossbones behind it. Make sure to draw the eye sockets and the hollow part of the nose!

  4. Add The Body

    Let’s now add the pirate’s body. First, form the collar using triangular shapes. Next, outline the coat by making two rectangular shapes with rounded corners on the shoulder parts. Now, draw a small rectangle within a rectangle to create the buckle of the belt then draw the belt strap by making two horizontal lines. Finally, outline the pants by forming the line as shown.

  5. Now Draw The Legs

    First, draw two short wavy vertical lines to form the upper part of the pirate’s boot. Next, create a dome shape with an upward curve to draw the rest of the boot. Now, let’s make the peg leg by forming a U-shaped line with a long thin rectangular shape at the bottom.

  6. Next Draw The Arms

    Next, draw the arms of the coat then attach the hands by forming the shapes as shown.

  7. Form The Hilt

    Form the hilt of the sword by first creating a rectangular shape for the grip. Next, draw the guard of the sword by making a dome shape. Now, draw the knuckle guard by creating two curved lines.

  8. Attach The Blade

    Attach the sword’s blade by first outlining its curvy shape and pointed tip. Now, add some V-shaped lines on the edge of the sword. Next, draw the curved line on the center of the sword called the fuller.

  9. Complete The Pirate Drawing

    Complete the pirate drawing by first coloring the skin with any skin tone shade. Next, color the eyebrow, beard and peg leg with an orange crayon. Fill in the pirate hat, boot and eyepatch with a purple crayon. Now, color the lining on the pirate hat and the hilt of the sword with a yellow crayon. Don’t forget to color the blade of the sword with a gray crayon. Let’s color the coat with a red crayon and the inner shirt with a white crayon. Shade the buckle of the belt with a yellow crayon and the strap with a purple crayon.
