Snowy Forest Drawing: All Steps

The goal is to arrive at a finished drawing of a snowy forest by tackling one part at a time. This project will take 9 steps to complete as we continue to create each section which will get us closer to the completed artwork. The completed work of art will be perfected with color resulting in a artwork you will be proud of!

Time Needed: 30 minutes

  1. Start Outlining A Tree

    Let’s start by drawing an outline of a tall leafless tree similar to the illustration.

  2. Add Snow To Its Branches

    Add snow on the top part of the tree’s branches. Erase parts of the branch that overlap with the snow.

  3. Draw More Trees In The Middle Ground

    Now, draw two more trees in the middle ground. Don’t forget to add snow on the branches!

  4. Form The Snowy Ground

    Next, draw wavy curved lines below the trees. Then, add long wavy horizontal lines in front and behind the trees.

  5. Draw Trees In The Background

    Draw thinner trees with snow on its branches in the background.

  6. Add More Trees

    Now, add thinner and shorter trees in the background.

  7. Draw A Twig

    Let’s add a thin twig in the foreground.

  8. Form A Snowy Rock

    Outline an oval-shaped rock then add snow on top by drawing a wavy line.

  9. Complete The Snowy Forest Drawing

    Let’s complete our drawing of a snowy forest by adding some color! First, use a white crayon to color the snow on top of the rock and branches as well as the snowy ground. Add some shadows on the ground using a light blue crayon. Now, use a gray crayon to color the rock. Next, use a dark brown crayon to color the twig and the trees in the middle ground. Then, use gray and dark blue to color the trees in the background. Finally, use a vibrant blue crayon to shade the sky.
