Materials
- Pencil
- Drawing Paper
- Crayon or Colored Pencils

In today’s lesson, we are going to discover how to make an angler fish drawing on paper. The size of each of the drawn parts will be pointed out in each step of the tutorial. Take notice that the blue outlines have been drawn to indicate the new components being drawn in each in each of the steps.
Time Needed: 30 minutes

Start The Body
In the middle of the page, draw a large curved line to start off.

Continue The Body
Draw another large curved line underneath the first one to make the large body shape of the fish.

Draw The Mouth
Use two curved lines to create the open mouth shape.

Add Teeth
Create teeth inside the mouth by using lots of curved lines.

Draw The Tail
To make the tail shape, use lots of curved lines to create “spikes” and connect those together using smaller curved lines.

Add Fins
Draw the fins using the same method as the tail.

Draw The Light On The Head
Use even more curved lines to add the light that’s on top of the head.

Complete The Face
Draw a small circle for the eye and add a few lines of detail.

Add Color
Color in the fish with a dark blue or purple.

Have you ever seen a deep sea anglerfish?
The anglerfish is one of the most bizarre looking creatures. They live deep in the ocean, so we don’t know a lot about them. But there are some fascinating things that scientists have learned about this strange fish.
They’re absolutely fascinating! These deep sea creatures have these long, thin “fishing lines” that stretch from their heads. When they sense prey they use the end of the line (that lights up) to lure them in before biting it with their sharp teeth. Just imagine the things that live in the deepest parts of the ocean!
Anglerfish are typically small but some larger ones have been seen up to two feet long.They are distinguished from other fish by their round, protruding mouth, which contains teeth on both jaws. The eyes have unique retina properties – they are specially adapted to see in the dark depths where they live.
Anglers eat shrimplike animals, squids, worms, all found in the deepest parts of the ocean.
What other creatures could live miles down beneath the ocean that we haven’t discovered yet?
