This step by step lesson will instruct you how to draw an apatosaurus. We will draw attention to the shapes of each part and variety of lines created so that the drawing looks convincing.

Form The Head
First, form the small elongated shape of the apatosaurus’ head. Next, draw a shaded circle for its eye.

Outline The Body
Now, start forming the apatosaurus’ long neck. Then, draw the outline of its oval shaped body attached to the end of its neck.

Add The Tail
Add the long wavy shape of the apatosaurus’ tail attached to its body. Erase parts of the body that overlap with the tail.

Form The Legs
Form the apatosaurus’ columnar legs attached to the bottom of its body.

Draw The Spines And Underbelly
Let’s add more details to our drawing of an apatosaurus! First, add some spines by drawing small thin shapes along the apatosaurus’ back. Next, outline its underbelly by drawing a line following the shape of its body as shown.

Complete The Apatosaurus Drawing
Finally, let’s color our apatosaurus! Start by using an orange crayon to fill in the spines along its body. Next, use a yellow crayon to color its underbelly. Then, shade the rest of the apatosaurus’ body using a green crayon.
