Draw Running Horse: All Steps

The goal is to arrive at a finished drawing of a running horse by working on one area at a time. It will take 6 steps in total as we continue to make each part moving closer to the finished drawing. The final drawing will be detailed with color resulting in a work of art you will be proud of!

Time Needed: 20 minutes

  1. First Form The Head

    Draw Running Horse: Step 1

    First, form the outline of the horse’s head as shown. Now, draw the pointed shape of the horse’s ears on top of its head.

  2. Next Draw The Face

    Next, draw an oval for its eye and nostril. Outline its snout by drawing a curved line. Then, add a curved line for its mouth.

  3. Now Outline The Body

    Now, outline the elongated shape of its body attached to its head.

  4. Add The Mane And Tail

    Draw the wavy shape of its mane on top of its head and along its back. Then, attach the shape of its long tail to its body.

  5. Then Attach The Legs

    Next, form the shape of its strong legs attached to the bottom of its body. Then, outline the hooves by drawing a curved line near the bottom of each leg.

  6. Complete The Drawing Of A Running Horse

    Grab your crayons and add some color to our drawing of a running horse! First, color the horse’s coat with a light gray crayon. Next, shade the snout, hooves and inner ears with a dark gray crayon. Then, fill in the eye, mane and tail with a black crayon.
