Draw The American Flag: All Steps

In this post, we will learn how to create the draw the American flag on paper. To look the best, we will consider the various sizes and shapes of each part of the American flag. The drawn lines in each illustration is made of blue so you can identify the most recent elements that you will be drawing.

Time Needed: 20 minutes

  1. Draw The Flag Outline

    Begin by drawing a wavy rectangle to resemble the outline of a flag.

  2. Add The Stars Field

    Then, add the smaller rectangle on the top left. This part of the American flag is known as the “canton” and holds the 50 stars.

  3. Draw The Stripes

    After that, add the stripes across the flag. When drawing the American flag you should draw 7 red stripes and 6 white stripes. These 13 stripes in total represent the original 13 colonies of the United States.

  4. Add The Stars

    Our USA flag will not be complete without the stars inside the small rectangular canton section. An American flag is drawn with 50 stars. This may be tricky to draw them all, so do your best.

  5. Draw The Flag Pole

    Complete your drawing by drawing a flag pole towards the left side of the flag you have just created. I also drew an ornamental finial atop this flag pole.

  6. Color Your Drawing
