This step by step lesson will teach you how to draw an Easter Cross. We will pay attention to the shapes of each part and types of contours created so that the artwork looks correct.

Time Needed: 20 minutes

  1. Draw A Vertical Rectangle

    Let’s begin by drawing the planks that form the cross. First, draw a vertical rectangle.

  2. Add A Horizontal Rectangle

    Next, add a horizontal rectangle to the plank drawn earlier as shown. Erase parts of the vertical rectangle that overlap with the horizontal rectangle.

  3. Draw The Draped Cloth

    Let’s put a draped cloth hanging on the cross. Start by creating a U-shape. Erase parts of the cross that overlap with the cloth.

  4. Add The Cloth’s Ends

    Then, add both ends of the cloth as shown.

  5. Add Details

    Now, we will add small details to our drawing to help bring it to life! First, create the cloth folds by drawing curved lines that follow the shape of the cloth as shown. Next, add texture to the planks by drawing straight lines as shown.

  6. Complete The Easter Cross Drawing

    Let’s finish the Easter cross drawing by coloring the cross with a brown crayon. Next, color in the draped cloth with a purple crayon.
