The goal is to arrive at a finished drawing of a fire belly newt by drawing one section at a time. The drawing will take 6 steps to complete as we continue to create each part moving closer to the finished work of art. The finished work of art will be completed with color making it a work of art you will be proud of!

Form The Head
First, outline the shape of the fire belly newt’s head. Next, add two circles for its eyes. Then, draw a curved line for its mouth.

Outline The Body
Now, draw two lines to form the newt’s elongated body.

Attach The Tail
Attach its long tail connected to the end of its body.

Draw The Legs
Draw the newt’s short legs similar to the illustration. Make sure to erase parts of the body that overlap with the legs!

Outline The Underbelly
Outline its underbelly by drawing a long wavy line along its body.

Complete The Fire Belly Newt Drawing
Now, let’s add some color to our drawing of a fire belly newt! Start by coloring the eyes using an orange crayon. Next, color its belly with a vibrant red crayon. Then, shade the rest of its body and legs using a dark red crayon. Finally, add some thin stripes along its underbelly with a dark red crayon.
