Materials

  • Pencil
  • Drawing Paper
  • Crayons or Colored Pencils
  • Black Marker (optional)

Foal Drawing: All Steps

In today’s lesson, we are going to learn how to create a foal drawing on paper. The shape and proportion of each of the drawn parts will be highlighted in each step of the tutorial. Take notice that the blue lines are used to indicate the newest components being created in each step.

Time Needed: 20 minutes

  1. Form The Head

    Foal Drawing: Step 1

    First, form the shape of the foal’s head similar to the illustration. Now, attach the pointed shape of its ears.

  2. Draw The Face

    Draw an oval for the eye. Next, add a curved line to outline its snout and a smaller oval for its nostril. Then, draw the curved outline of its mouth.

  3. Add The Body

    Draw the elongated shape of its body.

  4. Attach The Legs

    Form the shape of its tall, thin legs attached to the bottom of its body. Then, outline the hooves by drawing a curved line near the end of each leg. Make sure to erase parts of the body that overlap with the legs.

  5. Outline The Mane And Tail

    Outline the foal’s short mane along its head and back. Then, form its thin wavy tail attached to its body.

  6. Complete The Foal Drawing

    Let’s add some color to our drawing of a foal! First, color the foal’s coat with a dull orange or brown crayon. Next, shade its mane and tail with a black crayon. Then, fill in the hooves, snout, and inner ears with a light brown crayon.
