How to Draw a Bear

In this lesson, we will start with a blank piece of paper and learn how to draw a bear in 9 instructive steps. It’s best if we notice the proportions of each part of the bear. How big is each part compared to each other? What types of lines are being used to draw the bear’s fur?

Time Needed: 30 minutes

1. Draw The Head

   

   Let’s first start creating two shaded circles for the eyes. Next, draw a small triangular shape with curved lines at the bottom to form the nose and mouth. Now, outline the shape of the snout as shown. Then, outline the shape of the bear’s head and add pointed lines to draw the fur.

2. Attach The Ears

   

   Attach the bear’s ears onto its head by making U-shaped lines with short, curved lines inside.

3. Outline The Body

   

   Outline the shape of the bear’s body by forming the two lines as shown. Don’t forget to draw pointed lines for the fur details.

4. Start Forming The Legs

   

   Let’s start forming the bear’s legs! First, draw a curved line with small, pointed lines as shown. Draw a small bump at the bottom of the leg to form the bear’s paw.

5. Continue Drawing The Bear’s Legs

   

   Continue drawing the bear’s legs by creating a line with a bump at the bottom for the paws. Don’t forget to add the small, pointed lines to form the fur.

6. Draw The Underside Of The Belly

   

   Draw the underside of the bear’s belly by making a short horizontal line. Then, draw small V-shaped lines for the fur. Next, draw the visible part of the paw by forming an upward curve.

7. Add The Claws

   

   Add the claws by forming small triangles attached to the bear’s paws.

8. Attach The Tail

   

   Attach the tail to the bear’s body by drawing a curved line.

9. Complete The Bear Drawing

   

   Let’s complete the bear drawing by coloring its fur mainly with shades of brown. Next, shade the snout and inner part of the ears with a light brown crayon. Then, use a darker shade of brown to color the nose. Finally, use a white crayon to color the claws.
