In this beginner’s lesson, we will discover how to draw a buoy with basic drawing tools. We will consider the different sizes and shapes contained in the example drawing of the buoy. The new lines in each step is drawn blue so you can observe the most recent elements that you will be illustrating.
Time Needed: 20 minutes
Outline The Body Of The Buoy
Outline the body of the buoy by creating the shape similar to the illustration.
Draw The Top Part Of The Base
Draw the top part of the buoy’s base by making an oval. Erase parts of the base that overlap with the buoy’s body.
Form The Cone
Start forming the cone on top of the buoy by creating a diagonal line on both sides.
Draw The Mouth Of The Cone
Draw the mouth of the cone by creating two ovals.
Attach The Beacon Light
Attach the beacon light by drawing an inverted U-shaped line. Then, form an oval on the top part of the beacon.
Draw The Base
Since buoys are placed on bodies of water, only a portion of the base is visible. Let’s draw the visible part of the base by making a wavy U-shaped line.
Add a striped pattern to the body of the buoy by forming diagonal lines as shown.
Draw The Body Of Water
Draw the body of water by making wavy lines.
Complete The Buoy Drawing
Finish the buoy drawing by first coloring the body of water with a blue crayon. Next, color the beacon light with an orange crayon. Then, fill in the pattern on the body of the buoy with red and white crayons alternatingly. Now, color the cone and the top part of the base with a red crayon. Finally, shade the inside of the cone and the bottom of the base with a purple crayon.
