How to Draw a Carnotaurus

In this lesson, we are going to learn how to draw a carnotaurus with basic drawing tools. We will consider the different sizes and shapes within the artwork of the carnotaurus. The lines in each step is outlined in blue so you can observe the current elements that you should be drawing.

Time Needed: 30 minutes

1. Form The Head

   

   Outline the elongated shape of the carnotaurus’ head. Make sure to draw a V-shaped line to form its mouth. Now, draw a small circle for its eye. Then, add a small dot for its nostril.

2. Add Teeth

   

   Draw two zigzag lines inside the dinosaur’s mouth to add its teeth.

3. Attach The Horns

   

   To draw the horns, attach two triangular shapes on top of the carnotaurus’ head.

4. Outline The Body

   

   Form the elongated shape of the theropod’s body. Then, connect the long pointed tail at the end of its body.

5. Attach The Legs

   

   Draw the shape of the carnotaurus’ legs attached to the bottom of its body. Emphasize the dinosaur’s sharp pointed toes similar to the illustration.

6. Add The Arms

   

   Form its small arms attached to its torso as shown.

7. Form The Top And Underside Of The Body

   

   Outline the top and underside of the carnotaurus by drawing two wavy lines following the shape of its body.

8. Draw The Spines

   

   Draw the small V-shaped spines along the carnotaurus’ back.

9. Complete The Carnotaurus Drawing

   

   Let’s add some color to our carnotaurus drawing! First, use a black crayon to fill in the eye. Next, color the teeth with a white crayon. Now, shade the horns and spines along its back using a red crayon. Then, use a light orange crayon to color the underside of its body. For the top part of the carnotaurus’ body, use a dark brown crayon. Finally, shade the arms, legs and the rest of its body with a brown crayon.
