In today’s basic drawing lesson, we are going to learn how to draw a dilophosaurus on paper. The shape and proportion of each part will be observed in each step of the tutorial. Observe that the blue pencil lines are used to show the newest elements being created in each step.

Outline The Head
Outline the dilophosaurus’ head shape similar to the illustration. Form its mouth by making a V-shape.

Draw The Eye
Draw its eye by creating a small circle.

Add Teeth
Add the dinosaur’s teeth by drawing zigzag lines inside its mouth.

Form The Neck Frills
Form the neck frills of the dilophosaurus by drawing wavy shapes around its head as shown.

Outline The Body
Draw an oval to outline the dinosaur’s body.

Attach The Tail
Draw its long pointed tail attached to the end of its body.

Add The Legs
Form the thin shape of the dinosaur’s legs attached to the bottom of its body. Emphasize its sharp claws similar to the illustration.

Draw The Arms
Draw the dilophosaurus’ short arms attached to its torso. Then, form its clawed hands as shown.

Complete The Dilophosaurus Drawing
Now, let’s add some color to our drawing of the dilophosaurus! First, use a white crayon to fill in the teeth. Next, use a black crayon to shade the eye. Now, color the outer part of the neck frills with a dark orange crayon. Then, fill in the inner part of the neck frills with a yellow crayon. Finally, shade the rest of the dilophosaurus with an orange crayon.
