How To Draw A Dock: All Steps

In this lesson, we will start off with a blank piece of paper and discover how to draw a dock in no time. It is best to proportion out the shape and size of each of the drawn parts of the dock.

Time Needed: 30 minutes

  1. Create A Boat

    Let’s create a boat by first drawing a long triangular shape. Form the outer part of the boat by making a wide U-shaped line. Then, add some texture by creating two curved lines on the outer part of the boat.

  2. Draw The Inside Of The Boat

    Draw the inside of the boat by first adding the thwarts. To draw a thwart, create rectangular shapes inside the boat as shown. Then, create a straight line to form the visible corner inside the boat.

  3. Form The Dock

    Form the dock platform by making a thin rectangular box.

  4. Attach The Posts

    Attach three posts on each side of the dock platform by creating cylindrical shapes. Add texture to the post by drawing vertical lines.

  5. Add Ripples

    Add ripples by making curved lines on the bottom of the posts.

    Draw wirings tied to the posts by making curved lines as shown.

  7. Add Dock Planks

    Add texture and wooden planks to the dock platform by creating straight lines as shown.

  8. Draw The Grass And Body Of Water

    Now, let’s draw the grass by drawing a line attached to the end of the dock platform. Create some visible blades of grass by making small zigzag lines as shown. Next, draw the body of water by making horizontal lines.

  9. Complete The Dock Drawing

    Let’s complete the dock drawing by first coloring the dock and boat with a brown crayon. Shade the inside of the boat with a darker brown crayon. Next, color the sky with a light blue crayon and the water with a dark blue crayon. Finally, fill in the grass with a green crayon.
