How To Draw A Ferry: All Steps

By the end of this lesson we will complete a drawing of a ferry by crafting one area at a time. This project will take 6 steps in total as we continue to create each area which will get us closer to the completed artwork. The finished work of art will be finalized with color making it a work of art you will love!

Time Needed: 20 minutes

  1. Draw The Hull

    First, outline the hull by drawing the shape similar to the illustration. Next, draw the line across the hull as shown.

  2. Form The Superstructures

    Let’s make the outline of the superstructures on the ferry by drawing the two shapes with a protruding part to the right. Next, draw a horizontal line on the bottom superstructure. Then, attach a smokestack on the top superstructure.

  3. Add Windows

    Add windows on the superstructures part of the ferry by drawing rectangular shapes.

  4. Create Taffrails

    Create taffrails by drawing a long horizontal line with small vertical lines attached to the bottom as shown.

  5. Draw The Body Of Water

    Draw the body of water surrounding the ferry by creating wavy horizontal lines.

  6. Complete The Ferry Drawing

    Complete the ferry drawing by adding colors! First, use a red crayon to shade the bottom part of the superstructure as well as the bottom part of the hull. Also use a red crayon to color the smokestack. Now, fill in the windows with a blue crayon. Next, color the rest of the ferry with a white crayon. Finally, fill in the sky and water with different shades of blue.
