How To Draw A Fisherman: All Steps

In this beginner’s lesson, we are going to discover how to draw a fisherman with your drawing materials. Be sure to observe the different sizes and shapes within the artwork of the fisherman. The pencil lines in each step is made of blue so you can observe the current lines that you will be working on.

Time Needed: 30 minutes

  1. Start Drawing The Head

    How To Draw A Fisherman: Step 1

    Start drawing the head by creating a U-shaped line. Now, draw the eyes using two shaded circles and the eyebrows with short lines curving downward. Next, draw the nose on the center of the face by making a small line curving downward. Then, add the mouth by creating a long line curving upward. Don’t forget to draw the ears by making C-shaped lines on both sides of the head.

  2. Draw A Bucket Hat

    Let’s draw the fisherman’s bucket hat! First, outline the shape of the bucket hat. Then, draw a curved line inside.

  3. Add The Fishing Vest

    Add the fisherman’s fishing vest by first drawing the outline of the vest. Now, draw the pocket on each side by creating small rectangles with a U-shaped line inside.

  4. Draw The Fisherman’s Clothes

    Draw the fisherman’s clothes by first forming a small V-shape with a line curving upward for the collar. Next, draw the center of the shirt by making a vertical line. Then, outline the shape of the shorts as shown.

  5. Add The Arms And Legs

    Let’s add the fisherman’s arms by drawing curved lines and then drawing a circular shape for the hands. Next, let’s outline the boots. Then, we’ll add the details on the top and bottom of the boots by drawing horizontal lines.

  6. Draw The Fishing Rod

    Let’s draw the fishing rod by first drawing the pole with a straight diagonal line. Now, attach the handle by drawing a rectangular line. Then, add the reel by creating a circle with two curved lines. Next, we’ll attach the reel handle by drawing an L-shape with a circle on the tip. Don’t forget to draw the eyelets on the rod!

  7. Attach The Fishing Line

    Attach the fishing line by drawing a long line from the reel passing through the eyelets. Add the bobber by drawing a circle with a curved line in the center. Next, draw the fish hook by making a very small circle attached to a J-shaped line as shown.

  8. Add A Bucket Of Fish

    Let’s add a bucket of fish to our drawing! First, draw the outside of the bucket using a rectangle. Next, draw the mouth of the bucket using an oval. Now, form curved lines with a circle at the end to draw the handle of the bucket. Then, outline the shape of the fish and draw three lines on the tail to add some details.

  9. Complete The Fisherman Drawing

    Let’s complete the fisherman drawing by first coloring the bucket hat and the fishing vest with a green crayon. Next, shade the skin with a light orange crayon. Now, color the shirt with a pink crayon and the shorts with a brown crayon. Then, color the boots and the bucket on the side with a blue crayon. Don’t forget to color the fish with a red crayon and the handle of the bucket with a gray crayon! Finally, let’s color the handle and the reel of the fishing rod with a red crayon, the fishing line inside the reel with a gray crayon and the reel handle with a yellow crayon.
