How To Draw A Fishing Pole: All Steps

In this tutorial, we are going to discover how to draw a fishing pole with basic drawing tools. Pay attention to the various sizes and shapes within the artwork of the fishing pole. The lines in each step is made of blue so you can observe the current lines that you should be creating.

Time Needed: 30 minutes

  1. First Draw The Rod Blank

    First, draw the rod blank by creating a long thin rectangular shape.

  2. Next Attach The Handle

    Next, attach the handle of the fishing pole by drawing an elongated rounded shape.

  3. Add The Reel

    Add the reel by first drawing a circle. Next, form the visible parts on the side of the reel by drawing two curved lines.

  4. Draw The Reel Handle

    Draw the reel handle by creating a small circle on the center of the reel. Next, draw an L-shape with a cylinder attached to the end.

  5. Attach The Eyelets

    Attach the eyelets on the fishing pole by making curved lines as shown. Make sure to draw the eyelets in increasing sizes starting at the tip of the pole as the smallest size.

  6. Add The Bobber

    Add the bobber by first drawing a circle. Next, create a horizontal line on the middle of the bobber. Then, draw a small U-shaped line on top.

  7. Draw The Fish Hook

    Draw the fishing hook by first outlining the small J-shape as shown. Next, form the eye of the fishing hook by drawing a circle. Don’t forget to draw the barb which is the pointed part sticking out on the end of the fish hook!

  8. Attach The Fishing Line

    Attach the fishing line by drawing a line starting from the reel to the eye of the fish hook. Make sure that the fishing line is passing through the eyelets.

  9. Complete The Fishing Pole Drawing

    Let’s complete the fishing pole drawing by first coloring the main rod with a brown crayon. Next, color the reel with a yellow crayon. Now, shade the fishing line on the center of the reel and the reel handle with a gray crayon. Then, fill in the fishing rod handle, top half of the bobber, and the ring and cylinder shape on the reel handle with a red crayon. Don’t forget to color the bottom half of the bobber with a white crayon. Finally, shade the fish hook with a purple crayon.
