How to Draw a Giraffe Head

In this tutorial, we will begin with a blank piece of paper and discover how to draw a giraffe head in a series of 6 steps. We will observe the shape and size of each of the drawn parts of the giraffe head.
Time Needed: 20 minutes

Draw The Face
First, draw two oval shapes for the eyes. Next, form the snout by creating a bumpy oval shape. Add the nostrils by drawing two circles. Then, create the bottom part of its mouth by drawing a line curving upwards.

Outline The Head
Outline the shape of the giraffe’s head as shown in the illustration. Emphasize the two protruding shapes on top of its head called the ossicones.

Attach The Ears
First, outline the pointed shape of the giraffe’s ears on each side of its head. Then, create a curved line inside the drawn ears as shown.

Add The Neck
Draw two diagonal lines connected to the bottom of the giraffe’s head.

Create The Patterns
Now, create the spot patterns around the giraffe’s face and neck. Next, draw curved lines attached from the side of the ears to the top of the snout.

Complete The Giraffe Head Drawing
First, let’s color the spots around the giraffe’s face and neck with a brown crayon. Next, use a very light shade of yellow to color the sides of the face. Use a light brown crayon to fill in the snout and mouth. Shade the nostrils with a black crayon. Then, use a pink crayon to color the inner parts of its ears. Finally, shade the rest of the giraffe’s head and neck with yellow crayon.
