By the end of this lesson we will arrive at a finished drawing of a houseboat by working on one area at a time. It will take 9 steps to complete as we continue to create each section moving closer to the completed artwork. The final artwork will be detailed with color resulting in a drawing you will want to share with friends!

First Draw The Walls
First, draw the walls of the houseboat by making three vertical lines connected by a horizontal line.

Next Add The Roof
Next, add the roof by drawing two slanted rectangular shapes as shown.

Outline The Houseboat Details
Let’s outline the details on the houseboard. First, draw circles for the windows and the lifebuoy. Next, make a U-shape to draw the door.

Continue Drawing The Houseboat Details
Let’s continue drawing the details on the houseboat! Start drawing the inner circles on the windows. Now, draw four lines on the lifebuoy and then create a thin rectangular shape to draw the lifebuoy hook. Finally, draw diagonal lines on the roof.

Draw The Top Of The Raft
Draw the top of the raft by making a rectangular shape.

Form The Sides Of The Raft
Form the sides of the raft by making short diagonal lines connected with a wavy horizontal line.

Add Raft Details
Add the details on the top part of the raft by forming the lines as shown.

Add The Background
Add the background by first drawing a long horizontal line on the center. Next, form bumpy shapes to draw the clouds. Then, draw small wavy horizontal lines to create the waves.

Complete The Houseboat Drawing
Let’s finish the houseboat drawing by coloring the walls with an orange crayon. Next, shade the top and bottom part of the lifebuoy, the door and the window borders with a red crayon.
Don’t forget to color the left and right side of the lifebuoy and the clouds with a white crayon. Now, fill in the roof and the inside of the windows with a purple crayon. Then, color the raft with a brown crayon.
Finally, color the sky and the water with different shades of blue.
