How to Draw a Pachycephalosaurus

In today’s lesson, we will learn how to draw a pachycephalosaurus on paper. The shape and proportion of each part will be pointed out in each step of the lesson. Note that the blue lines are used to indicate the new parts being drawn in each step.

Time Needed: 30 minutes

1. Outline The Head

   

   Draw the oval outline of the pachycephalosaurus’ head. Add a wavy horizontal line to form its mouth.

2. Form The Face

   

   First, draw a small circle for its eye. Next, add a small dot for its nostril. Then, create a curved line to form its snout.

3. Outline The Body

   

   Now, outline the elongated shape of this herbivorous dinosaur’s body. Make sure to form its pointed tail at the end of its body.

4. Form The Knobs

   

   First, erase the top part of the pachycephalosaurus’ head. Next, form the bony knobs on top of its head by drawing a series of small pointed shapes.

5. Outline The Skull

   

   Outline the skull by creating a curved line.

6. Add The Arms

   

   Add the shape of its short arms. Then, attach its sharp claws as shown. Erase parts of the body that overlap with the arms.

7. Attach The Legs

   

   Now, attach the dinosaur’s long legs at the bottom of its body then form the claws at the end of its toes. Make sure to erase parts of the body that overlap with the legs.

8. Outline The Underbelly

   

   Create a wavy line as shown to form the pachycephalosaurus’ underbelly.

9. Complete The Pachycephalosaurus Drawing

   

   Let’s add some color to our pachycephalosaurus drawing! First, use a black crayon to fill its eye. Next, color the snout and skull with an orange crayon. Now, use a yellow crayon to color its claws and the bony knobs on top of its head. Then, use a light green crayon to color its underbelly. Finally, shade the rest of its body with a vibrant green crayon.
