How To Draw A Rhinoceros: All Steps

In this beginner’s lesson, we are going to learn how to draw a rhinoceros with your drawing materials. Be sure to observe the different sizes and shapes of each part of the rhinoceros. The new lines in each step is drawn in blue so you can see the most recent elements that you will be creating.

Time Needed: 20 minutes

  1. Outline The Head

    How To Draw A Rhinoceros: Step 1

    First, outline the head of the rhinoceros by drawing a curvy V-shape. Don’t forget to add a horizontal line as shown to draw the mouth.

  2. Form The Face

    To form rhinoceros’ face, draw a shaded circle for the eyes. Next, draw a small circle above the mouth to form the nose.

  3. Attach The Tusks And Ears

    First, let’s attach the tusks by drawing two pointed shapes at the end of the rhinoceros’ tusks. Then, draw a rounded triangular shape with a line in the middle attached to the head to form the ears.

  4. Draw The Body And Tail

    Draw the body of the rhinoceros by creating a long elongated shape. Attach a narrow shape with a pointed shape at the end to form the tail.

  5. Form The Limbs

    Form the limbs of the rhinoceros by drawing vertical lines attached to the bottom of the body. Don’t forget to add U-shapes at the bottom of the legs to form the toes.

  6. Complete The Rhinoceros Drawing

    Color the rhinoceros’ inner ear, nostril, and tip of its tail with a black crayon. Next, use a white crayon to fill in the tusks and toe nails of the rhinoceros. Finally, use a gray crayon to give life and shade the rest of the rhinoceros.
