How to Draw a Row Boat

- Pencil
- Drawing Paper
- Crayons or Colored Pencils
- Black Marker (optional)

By the end of this lesson we will arrive at a finished drawing of a row boat by creating one part at a time. The drawing will take 9 steps to complete as we continue to create each area moving closer to the completed artwork. The finished artwork will be shaded with color resulting in a drawing you will be proud to show off!

Draw The Frame
Draw the frame of the row boat by forming two triangular shapes as shown.

Outline The Hull
Outline the hull by drawing a curved line as shown.

Form The Strake
Form the strake of the row boat by drawing lines following the shape of the hull.

Attach The Oar Locks
Attach the oar locks by forming a U-shape on both sides of the row boat.

Add The Thwarts
Add the thwarts inside the row boat by making rectangular shapes as shown. These are the row boat’s braces that also serve as seats for passengers.

Form The Corner Inside The Row Boat
Form the corner inside of the row boat by drawing a straight line.

Create Oars
Create oars by drawing thin cylindrical shapes placed in the oar locks.

Draw Ripples
Draw water ripples by making curved lines around the row boat and around the oar.

Complete The Row Boat Drawing
Let’s add color to the row boat drawing! First, color the boat mainly with a brown crayon. fill in the inside of the row boat with a darker shade of brown. Next, color the oar locks with a gray crayon. Then, shade the oar handles with an orange crayon. Finally, fill in the water with a blue crayon.
