How To Draw A Saddle: All Steps

In this post, we will learn how to draw a saddle with your drawing materials. Pay attention to the different sizes and shapes of each part of the saddle. The lines in each step is made of blue so you can observe the current components that you will be drawing.

Time Needed: 20 minutes

  1. First Draw The Seat

    First, outline the elongated shape of the saddle’s seat. Next, draw a wavy line to form the side of the seat.

  2. Next Form The Saddle Flap

    Next, draw the U-shape outline of the saddle flap attached below the seat. Then, draw a small curved outline on the side of the flap to form the knee pad.

  3. Now Outline The Panel

    Now, outline the panel visible beneath the seat by drawing a curved line.

  4. Draw The Stirrup Leather

    Draw the rectangular strips below the seat to form the stirrup leather. Add small circular holes as shown.

  5. Add The Stirrup Iron

    Let’s add the stirrup iron dangling from the stirrup leather! First, draw a U-shaped outline. Then, attach an oval at the bottom. Make sure to erase parts of the leather that intersect with the stirrup iron.

  6. Complete The Saddle Drawing

    Let’s color our drawing of a saddle! First, color the seat with shades of orange. Next, fill in the panel with a yellow crayon. Now, use a light brown crayon to color the stirrup leather. Then, fill in the stirrup iron with a gray crayon. Finally, use darker shades of brown to color the saddle flap.
