Time Needed: 30 minutes
Draw The Head
Near the top of the page, draw the head of the seahorse, this is just part of an oval shape with the long nose coming off of it.
Start The Body
Draw a long curved line for the back and tail of the seahorse. Make sure you do this lightly, this line is going to be used as a guide for later so it will be erased.
Finish The Body Shape
Use another curved line to make the belly and finish the tail.
Add Spikes To The Head
Draw small spike shapes onto the head, and erase where they overlap the body shape.
Add Body Spikes
Add more small spikes along the back of the seahorse, and make the area where the fin will go with three slightly larger spikes.
Add Curves In Between
Connect each of the spikes along the back with small curved lines, and fully erase the guide line from earlier.
Draw The Body Pattern
On the body, add a grid-like pattern using curved lines.
Finish up by adding the fin and an eye to the face.
Color It In
Seahorses can change color to blend in with their surroundings, but are commonly found being yellow, pink, orange, or grey

Seahorses are Fascinating
Seahorses are one of the strangest sea creatures. They have the head that looks like a horse and the tail of a fish.
A seahorse can live up to 5 years, but the smallest ones have a shorter lifespan. They can change their color to match their surroundings. This helps them hide from predators!
Speaking of hiding… they can even make their body to make themselves look like seaweed and other underwater plants that grow in their habitat.
Seahorses are able to produce sounds using their long snouts. They often use these sounds to attract mates and ward off predators. Scientists have recently discovered that seahorses make a clicking sound when happy and a growling sound when under stress!
Seahorses are fascinating creatures. They live in saltwater and can grow up to a foot tall. Seahorses’ eyesight is so bad that they have no idea what is going on around them.
