In this lesson, we will begin with a new piece of paper and discover how to draw a skeleton hand in 6 instructive steps. It’s best if we proportion out the proportions of each part of the skeleton hand.

Outline The Carpal Bones
First, outline the carpal bones or the bones in the palm of the hand by drawing the shape as shown.

Form The Metacarpal Bones
Form five thin, long metacarpals attached to the carpal bones.

Draw The Proximal Phalanges
Draw the thin shape of the proximal phalanges attached to the ends of the metacarpals. Make sure to draw the proximal phalanges shorter than the metacarpals!

Add The Intermediate Phalanges
Next, draw the thin, short shape of the intermediate phalanges connected to the proximal phalanges.

Attach The Distal Phalanges
Now, let’s draw the bones at the tip of the hand called distal phalanges by creating V-shaped lines attached to the intermediate phalanges.

Complete The Skeleton Hand Drawing
Finally, let’s complete the drawing of a skeleton hand by coloring the bones with a white crayon. Add some shading to the edges using a cream colored crayon!
