In today’s tutorial, we will learn how to draw a spotted salamander on paper. The design and proportion of each part will be considered in each step of the lesson. Observe that the blue lines are used to indicate the newest shapes being drawn in each in each of the steps.
Time Needed: 20 minutes

Draw The Eyes
Start by drawing two lines curving downwards to form the bumpy upper eyelids. Next, add the visible eye by drawing a circle. Then, draw a shaded circle for its pupil.

Outline The Body
Next, outline the long, wavy shape of the spotted salamander’s body.

Add The Tail
Add its curving pointed tail connected to its body.

Form The Nostril And Mouth
Now, draw a small dot to add its nostril. Then, form a wavy line to draw its mouth.

Attach The Legs
Draw the salamander’s short legs attached to the bottom of its body. Then, form its pointy toes similar to the illustration.

Complete The Spotted Salamander Drawing
Let’s finish our drawing of a spotted salamander by adding some color! First, fill its eye with a white crayon. Next, color its underbelly with a light gray crayon. Now, add circular spots along the salamander’s body and tail. Finally, shade the rest of the amphibian’s body with a black crayon.
