In today’s post, we will learn how to draw a surfer on paper. The location and proportion of each part will be pointed out in each step of the lesson. Observe that the blue pencil lines are used to indicate the newest lines being created in each in each of the steps.
Time Needed: 30 minutes

Draw The Head
Draw the head by first making a U-shaped line. Next, form the hair by making the bumpy shape as shown. Now, let’s draw the face by first adding two circles for the eyes and two short lines curving downward for the eyebrows. Then, let’s draw the nose by making a small inverted U-shaped line. Finally, form the mouth by drawing a line curving upward.

Attach The Torso
Attach the torso by drawing an elongated rounded shape similar to the illustration.

Add The Arms
Let’s add the surfer’s arms! First, draw two lines on both sides of the torso to form the arms. Now, attach the hands by making a rounded shape with three small lines. Don’t forget to add the thumb by making a long U-shaped line.

Now Draw The Boardshorts
Now, let’s draw the boardshorts. First, make an oval to draw the leg opening of the shorts. Next, draw two lines connecting the oval to the torso. Now, form an inverted L-shaped line as shown to draw the other leg.

Attach The Legs
Attach the surfer’s legs by first drawing two pairs of lines then making two rounded shapes at the bottom to draw the feet.

Create The Surfboard
Create the surfboard by first forming a wide oval shape. Next, draw the visible side of the surfboard by making a curved line. Then, draw a straight line at the center of the surfboard as shown.

Draw The Foam
Draw the foamy top of the waves by making bumpy lines similar to the illustration.

Form The Barrel
Draw the wave’s barrel shape by creating curved lines.

Complete The Surfer Drawing
Complete the surfer drawing by first coloring the surfer’s skin with a light brown crayon. Use a yellow crayon to color his hair. Next, shade the boardshorts with an orange crayon. Now, color the surfboard with different shades of green. Let’s color the top of the waves with a light blue crayon. Then, fill in curved parts of the water with a darker blue crayon. Finally, color the sky with a gradation of dark blue to light blue.
