How To Draw A Tadpole: All Steps

In today’s lesson, we are going to learn how to draw a tadpole on paper. The shape and proportion of each part will be considered in each step of the how-to article here. Take notice that the blue pencil lines are used to show the current parts being drawn in each step.

Time Needed: 20 minutes

  1. Outline The Body

    Start by forming the oval-like shape of the tadpole’s body.

  2. Attach The Tail Muscle

    Now, draw a wavy, pointed shape attached to the tadpole’s body to add its tail muscle.

  3. Add The Tail Fin

    Draw a wavy line following the shape of the tail muscle to surround it with the tail fin.

  4. Form The Face

    Now, form a ring shape for the eye. Then, draw a wavy horizontal line to form the mouth.

  5. Draw The Hind Legs

    Next, draw the shape of its tiny hind legs growing from the bottom of its body similar to the illustration.

  6. Complete The Tadpole Drawing

    Finally, let’s color our tadpole drawing! First, fill the pupil with a black crayon. Next, color its iris and tail fin with a light yellow crayon. Then, shade its body, tail muscle and hind legs with a dark yellow crayon. Add some circular spots on its body and tail using a brown crayon.
