How To Draw A Tapir: All Steps

In today’s post, we will learn how to draw a tapir on paper. The location and proportion of each part will be pointed out in each step of the how-to article here. Observe that the blue lines are used to show the new elements being drawn in each in each of the steps.

Time Needed: 20 minutes

  1. Outline The Body

    Outline the oval shape of the body. Make sure to emphasize the tapir’s long snout!

  2. Draw The Eye

    Draw the eye by making a shaded circle.

  3. Add The Ears

    First, outline the shape of the pointed ears. Next, draw a curved line forming the inner part of the ear.

  4. Attach The Legs

    First, outline the tapir’s elongated legs attached to the bottom of its body. Next, form the claws by drawing three triangular shapes attached to the bottom of each leg.

  5. Add A Fur Pattern

    Add the fur pattern on the tapir’s body by drawing wavy lines as shown.

  6. Complete The Tapir Drawing

    Let’s complete the tapir drawing by adding some color! First, use a black crayon to fill in the inner part of the ear. Next, shade the pattern on the tapir’s back and tail using a white crayon. Now, fill in the claws with a light gray crayon. Finally, use a dark gray crayon to color the rest of the tapir’s body.
