How To Draw A Waterfall: All Steps

In this lesson, we will start off with a new piece of paper and learn how to draw a waterfall in no time. It is best to pay attention to the proportions of each part of the waterfall.

Time Needed: 30 minutes

  1. Outline The Waterfall

    Outline the shape of the waterfall by drawing the line similar to the illustration.

  2. Draw The Plunge Pool

    Draw the plunge pool by creating a bumpy oval shape. Add small droplets by drawing ovals as shown.

  3. Outline The Landforms

    Outline the landforms by making curved lines attached to the top of the waterfall.

  4. Draw Rocks

    Draw rocks by making oval shapes.

  5. Add Shrubs And Grass

    Add shrubs below the landforms by making bumpy lines. Next, form pointed shapes to draw the grass.

    Form the top of the landforms by making jagged round shapes. Next, form the sides by drawing a line attached to the top of the landforms.

  7. Draw Waves

    Draw the waves in the water by making wavy lines as shown. Make sure to draw the lines following the shape of the waterfall.

  8. Add Clouds

    Add clouds by drawing elongated bumpy shapes.

  9. Complete The Waterfall Drawing

    Let’s start coloring the water with shades of blue. Next, fill in the plunge pool and the sky with a light blue crayon, Then, color the rocks with gray and the grass with green. Now, fill in the landforms with different shades of brown crayon. Make sure to color the top part of the landforms with a light brown crayon. Shade the mountain in the background with a dark green crayon. Finally, fill in the clouds with a white crayon.
