How to Draw a Wildebeest

In this tutorial, we will learn how to draw a wildebeest with basic drawing tools. Pay attention to the various sizes and shapes contained in the example drawing of the wildebeest. The pencil lines in each step is drawn in blue so you can identify the current elements that you should be working on.
Time Needed: 30 minutes
Draw The Face
First, draw two shaded ovals for the eyes. Next, create a curvy shape with two dots for the nose. Then, draw a line curving upwards to form its mouth.
Outline The Head
Create a line curving downwards to outline the wildebeest’s head.
Form The Horns
Form the pointed shape of the wildebeest’s horns attached on top of its head.
Add The Ears
First, outline the pointed shape of the wildebeest’s ears on both sides of its head. Next, draw a wavy horizontal line on its ears.
Outline The Body
Outline the curvy shape of the wildebeest’s body.
Add The Mane
Add the wavy pointy shape of the wildebeest’s mane on top of its head and below its chin.
Form The Legs
Form the thin elongated shape of the wildebeest’s legs. Next, draw the hooves by creating horizontal lines near the bottom of each leg.
Add The Tail
Add the long wavy shape of the wildebeest’s tail attached to its body.
Complete The Wildebeest Drawing
Let’s finish our drawing of the wildebeest by adding some color! First, use a dark brown crayon to shade its mane, hooves and tail. Next, color its horns, nose, mouth and the inner parts of its ears with a cream colored crayon. Now, use a brown crayon to shade the pattern on its face and to add some vertical streaks on its body. Then, color the rest of the wildebeest with an orange-brown crayon.
