In today’s tutorial, we are going to learn how to draw an ostrich on paper. The location and proportion of each part will be considered in each step of the tutorial. Observe that the blue lines are used to show the newest shapes being drawn in each in each of the steps.
Time Needed: 20 minutes

Outline The Body
Using your pencil, start drawing the body in the middle of the paper. It is like a huge, oval shaped wing.

Add A Smaller Wing Inside
Then, add a smaller wing inside its body.

Draw The Neck
The ostrich has a feathery long neck. First, draw a circular feather on the left side of its body. Then, add the long curvy lines that will be the bird’s long neck.

Add The Head, Eyes, And Beak
After that, draw the eyes, neck, and beak. This bird has a circular head, eyes, and long beak.

Draw The Tail
Don’t forget to add the tail on the right side of its body. Just follow the feather strokes.

Add Feather Before The Legs And Feet
Before you draw the legs and feet, add cotton- like feathers just below its body.

Outline The Right Leg And Foot
The ostrich has long legs and wide feet.

Add The Left Legs And Foot
Do not also forget to add the left foot beside the right

Complete Your Drawing
Lastly, gather your crayons and start coloring the ostrich! The body is gray and the legs are a combination of yellow and orange.

The eyes of the ostrich are also the largest of any land animal (vertebrete), making it not only the largest bird’s eyes, but also the largest on any animal on land. Despite its size, its eyes are relatively small in comparison to other bird species.
The ostrich is a flightless bird that mainly feeds off plants and vegetables.
A common misconception about ostriches is that they bury their heads in the sand. This simply is not true but the myth has persisted for many years.
