Komodo Dragon Drawing

In today’s guided lesson, we are going to discover how to create a komodo dragon drawing on paper. The size of each of the drawn parts will be highlighted in each step of the tutorial. Observe that the blue outlines have been drawn to show the newest elements being drawn in each in each of the steps.

Time Needed: 20 minutes

1. First Draw The Head

   

   First, outline the shape of the komodo dragon’s head as shown.

2. Add The Face

   

   Draw an oval for the eye and a small dot for the nostril. Next, draw a curvy horizontal line for the mouth. Then, form a thin pointy shape at the tip of its mouth to draw the tongue.

3. Outline The Body

   

   Draw two curving horizontal lines to form the body.

4. Attach The Tail

   

   Form the long, pointed shape of the monitor lizard’s tail attached to its body.

5. Form The Legs

   

   Now, form the shape of the komodo dragon’s legs attached to the bottom of its body. Then, draw its clawed feet at the end of its legs as shown. Don’t forget to erase parts of the body that overlap with the legs.

6. Complete The Komodo Dragon Drawing

   

   Let’s color our drawing of a komodo dragon. First, use a black crayon to color the eye. Add some shimmer to the eye using a white crayon. Now, fill the tongue with a red crayon. Next, shade the underbelly with a light green crayon. Then, color the rest of its body with a green crayon.
