In this tutorial, we will begin with a new piece of paper and learn how to create a lotus pond drawing in a series of steps. It’s best if we pay attention to the shape and size of each part of the lotus pond.
Time Needed: 30 minutes
Draw The Petals
Let’s first draw the petals of lotus flowers by forming pointed elongated shapes as shown in the illustration.
Attach The Stamen
Attach the stamen of a lotus flower behind its petals by drawing thin shapes with a rounded tip.
Form The Bottom Petals
With your pencil draw the bottom petals of a lotus flower by making thin elongated shapes with a pointed tip.
Draw Lotus Pads
Draw the lotus pads by making circular shapes and then adding a V-shaped line as shown.
Outline The Koi Fish
Outline the koi fish by drawing an elongated curved shape with a pointed tip.
Add The Koi’s Head, Fins And Tails
Add the koi’s tail at the tip by drawing the shape similar to the illustration. Next, attach a curved line on top of the body of a koi fish and a small elongated shape near the bottom to draw the fins. Then, draw the eye by making a shaded circle. Now, add a curved line to form the edge of the head.
Draw The Patterns On The Koi
Draw the patterns on the body of the koi fish by making blob shapes as shown.
Form The Ripples
Form the ripples in the water by making curved lines surrounding the lotus plants. Add wavy horizontal lines near the top as well.
Complete The Lotus Pond Drawing
Let’s complete the lotus pond drawing by using a blue crayon to shade the water. Next, color the petals with a pink crayon. Then, use an orange crayon to shade the stamen. Now, fill in the lotus pads with a green crayon. After that, let’s color the koi fish with light blue and dark orange crayons.
